Its interesting that in the two letters to the Corinthians were we have the account of brother annointed up to very bad stuff and getting told to leave, it is only a matter of months before he is being accepted back in again. I have always found that interesting.

Denied re-instatement
by MMae ini am curious: how many of you also experienced this, as i did?
prior to my own experience i had never known of anyone who had "served their time," attended meetings regularly, and in everyway demonstrated a good heart, being turned away.
but then, i guess i wouldn't have, would i?.

Elders: How were/are you to be towards the disfellowshipped?
by R.F. inas we know that the elders are the only ones officially allowed to seek out disfellowshipped ones for the purpose of helping the get back into the congregation.
i was wondering though, how are they to treat the df'd when out in public?
are they instructed to completely shun them then?

My husband always talked to dfs and had a chat with them, asked how they were doing. He often met one who was dfd and in financial trouble and would help out whenever he could. Some would phone home and excuse themselves for talking to me if my hub was not home. I never put the phone down I just talked as I would to anyone who phoned me. I think many people use their common decency and are governed by that when alone....different matter at the Khall.

Fun and games at the KH

The cong I grew up in during the 70s had an exceptional elder who was born for showbizz. Our service meeting parts were sooo fantastic they would not be believed by todays automatoms. We had mini dramas to show how to use the truuth book, dressed up as Scrooge from charles dickens novel and with "ghosts" of christmas past and present to represent old religion and new. We had the laughing policeman playing and us as youngsters sitting on the platform in fits not able to stop laughing. We did sketches were hippies came in the hall (our pioneers dressed up) throwing flowers to the audience. We had a brother dress up as a vicar and give a sermon. We had dramas for kids ( my brother was a fat angel) throwing daniel into the lions den. Ohh those days were such fun. I played the part of a colporteur in the 20s tiptoeing to the back of the hall to slip a track under a door, the householder burst out and chased me through the hall with a broom....he was too quick he caught up with me and landed on top of me. The hall was in hysterics.
Well of course all good things come to an end..... our dear brother arranged a singalong,"roll out the barrel",(british drinking song) while he played the piano. We young ones were singing but the new CO was sitting at the front of the hall and his face was like thunder. Oh but it was funny. Needless to say that was the end of that period.
Must just add on a negative note we even had trial runs for the great tribulation that scared the ..... out of us. They blackened the windows and closed off the lights and we sat in the dark and then someone started banging outside saying it was the police and they were hear to arrest us. I had nightmares for years from that one. We had even brothers demonstrating reversable coats to use when under ban.
MY my how things have changed, I could write a book about all the funny stuff we did. Anybody else remember that period prior to 1975?

dubs and the medical profession
by freydi inhttp://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=dcj82utsjvg&nr=1 .
.
didn't know exactly how to title this so thought we might just start with the idea of why so many dubs take pills for emotional reasons.

If you know that your future happiness relies on 6billion people dying first, it is a little bit difficult to remain joyful and happy. One represses the knowledge and tries to just get on with being a good christian. The negative feelings emerge in dreams and times of stress. Rather than deal with the source many feel that they are depressed without real reason and so begin to take medicine. Quite a lot of jws spend a fortune on alternative medicine first. They try to cheer each other up by saying that the depression is a sign of coping with the last days and it proves we are near the end.
In my congregation we had many sisters suffering with depression and on medication, the brothers who were ill were avoided. I suffered for years myself before I dealt with the real causes. Many who become jws are from abusive backgrounds or emotionally damaged in some way, they are almost programmed to become ill at some point.

Why does the Watchtower feel it needs to justify...
by B_Deserter in...it's blood stance with medical reasons.
they've put out countless articles and brochures on the subject based purely from a medical standpoint.
i just scratch my head at this.

The idea is also to get jws to abhor blood, which is rather strange as blood is sacred in Gods view. I have seen witnesses go white in the face just looking at blood sausage, blood bags in hospitals etc. The degree of morbid fear of blood is really quite exceptional. The next thing close to it is fear of demons.

Do the Governing body know they are being dishonest?
by strawberry cake ini wonder if anyone has any ideas on this.
who, what is behind the wts.
is it just men genuinely making mistakes but are sincerely trying to serve god?
-
chicken little
To make it to the top as in being a member of the governing body, means one has put in a hell of a lot of work for the org. These men have been society men for so long that they must eat, sleep and dream the stuff the whole time. I really believe that they think that they are Gods channel and that they are the ones being used. But I bet you anything that their wives must just have a few little doubts of their own if they have to live with these guys. I was once on a train coming back from a convention with one of the top dogs at the time, he was going on about how long the audience had clapped after his talk and wasnt it wonderful.....Yes dear, sighed his wife and turned to me to ask who I was and what I was doing....she showed interest ....he was on his own cloud 9. Being sincere about something doesnt make it right....hang on a sec didnt WE used to say that in the ministry? love chicken little

Anybody out there an Agnostic mentally but a Believer at Heart? (like me)
by Meeting Junkie No More infirst off, i no longer believe the bible to be the inspired word of god.
but with my heart i want to believe.
i love the idea of an all-powerful deity that cares for me and the rest of humanity.

I want to believe but I feel that I am in a state of suspended belief. I cant prayer...dont want to? Maybe, yet I miss it. My feelings are so messed up with regards to my spirituality that I feel like I am in a sea and treading water waiting for a miracle to happen. Deep down I know that the solution lies with me, I need to sort out my feelings and insecurities rather than grasping at the faith raft. In response to your views on church buildings and their beauty I must say that throughout my life I have been amazed and humbled at times at the deep need in humans to show reverance to a deity by producing such fantastic buildings. I would often see beautiful churches in out of the way villages, built by poor people with a deep reverance for God. At times the building of a cathederal as in Barcalona, which is still not complete after 300 years is something to ponder over..........imagine a project that you know cannot be completed in your lifetime and yet still undertook with the thought that others would carry on the work. We lack that vision today. I have never looked down on these buildings no matter how oppulant or over the top some may seem......you give your best to God isnt that what we are told to do? These people did, even out of their poverty. The results last for 100s of years and stands as a witness to their faith and trust in God. Whatever one thinks of the teachings within the church the desire to look beyond themselves and touch God in some way shines through.

These pictures are nothing compared to the ones in the latest childrens study book. The pictures of the great tribulation are so awful and they are meant to be studied with very young children. There is also one very spooky rag doll in a few of the illustrations, I decided that there was no way I was going to study that book with my little boy. Do any of you still have it? I chucked mine out. It is greenish cover with Jesus sitting with children around him. It covers everything from lying, stealing, child abuse but I hated it. Also one very funny looking sheep on one of the pages....maybe you nords can find these pictures I am talking about.

Dear Treebie,
My husband was an elder over 20 years and a good one in the sense of really caring for people. He hated judical hearings and was never one of the eager ones to jump at the chance to act as judge. One unmarried sister with 2 small children was reproved in the cong. and later needed help as she was pregnant and had complications. My husband and I did all we could to look after her two boys while she was in hospital and encourage her not to take the unkind comments (she brought it on herself) to heart. I remember even years after sisters talking about her as the one who got pregnant not long after she was baptized. I even asked one sister why she spoke of anothers past problems when Jehovah had forgiven the sister, was it loving to do that. My advice is if you really want to stay with the organization then write a letter to the body of elders. Explain that you are doing all you can to stay in the truth and that you need support and encourgement. Ask them to check in their elders manual to see how a case such as yours should be dealt with and stress the point that you are deeply sad and depressed over the situation, quote a scripture.....james 5.13,14 might help jog them. Give them a copy and send a copy to the branch office.
When you first come on this site you may feel you have done something wrong and feel you should not log on here again, I felt like that too.
But remember behind some of the tough words you may come across, you will find people that like you have had a terrible battle to be accepted or approved by a very small group of people, they have then decieded that they no longer want to be part of that group. This forum gives the chance for people to say how they feel.
Thinking of you with a hug too

Universal Issue of Sovereignty Does NOT Exist....Proof......
by oompa inwe are taught that the $hit mankind has endured for thousands of years is because satan said something that could be construed to be bad about god, and so god said...."let's let mankind see if they are better off following satan and leading themselves, or following me.
" now thousands of years later, this universal issue is still not settled...after all...the angles and demons are waiting with baited breath for the end result.. do you think that just because you were taught since youth that this "universal sovereignty issue" is real, it is?
i have some real good biblical reasons this is not even an issue.............................................oompa.

hello oompa dumpa
I used to wonder why the issue had to drag out on earth when it all started in heaven and the issĂșe was there. I couldnt understand why Satan gets to live all these thousands of years and yet we poor mortal souls get the zap after a miserly 70-80 years. Life is life even if he ends up in abyss he is still not dead. Actually even Adam mr trouble got to live over 900 years and look at the muwumba he dropped us .
